（1）. Meetsthe requirements of working conditions
- Wear resistance
When the blank is plastic in the mold cavity, the surface of the cavity flows and slides along the surface of the cavity, which causes the friction between the surface of the cavity and the blank, which causes the die to fail because of the wear. So the wear resistance of the material is one of the most basic and important properties of the mold.
Hardness is the main factor affecting the wear resistance. In general, the higher the hardness of the die parts, the less the wear, the better the wear resistance. In addition, the wear resistance is also related to the type, quantity, shape, size and distribution of carbides in the material.
2, strength and toughness
Most of the working conditions of the dies are very bad, and some of them often bear a large impact load, resulting in brittle fracture. In order to prevent the sudden brittle fracture of die parts, the die must have high strength and toughness.
The toughness of the die mainly depends on the carbon content, grain size
and microstructure of the material.
- Fatigue fracture properties
During the working process of dies, fatigue fracture often occurs under the long-term effect of cyclic stress. Its forms are low energy multiple impact fatigue fracture, tensile fatigue fracture contact fatigue fracture and bending fatigue fracture.
The fatigue fracture properties of the die mainly depend on its strength, toughness, hardness and the content of inclusions in the material.
4, high temperature performance
When the working temperature of the die is higher, the hardness and strength of the die will decrease, resulting in early wear or plastic deformation of the die and failure. Because the mold material should have high tempering stability to ensure that the mold at the working temperature, with high hardness and strength. 5. Resistance to cold and hot fatigue
Some moulds are in the state of repeated heating and cooling in the working process, making the surface of the cavity under the action of tension and stress, causing surface cracking and peeling, increasing friction, hindering the plastic deformation and reducing the size accuracy, resulting in the failure of the mold. Cold and hot fatigue is one of the main failure modes of hot working dies, which should have high cold and hot fatigue resistance.
- Corrosion resistance
Some molds, such as plastic moulds in the work, because of the existence of chlorine, fluorine and other elements in the plastic, decomposed and precipitated HCI, HF and other strong erosive gases after heating, eroding the mold cavity surface, increasing the surface roughness and aggravating the wear failure.
(2) Meets the requirements of the process performance
Mould manufacturing generally has to go through forging, cutting, heat treatment and other processes. In order to ensure the manufacturing quality of the mold and reduce the production cost, the material should have good Forgability, machinability, hardenability, hardenability and grinding property; it should also have small oxidation, decarburization
sensitivity and quenching dehiscence tendency.
It has low hot forging deformation resistance, good plasticity, wide forging temperature range, low tendency of cold cracking and precipitation of network carbide.
- Annealing process
The spheroidizing annealing temperature range is wide, the annealing hardness is low and the fluctuation range is small, and the spheroidizing rate is high.
Large cutting parameters, low tool loss, low surface roughness.
4, oxidation and decarburization sensitivity
When heated at high temperature, the oxidation resistance is good, the decarbonization rate is slow, and it is insensitive to the heating medium, so the tendency of pitting is small.
After quenching, it has uniform and high surface hardness.
A deeper hardening layer can be obtained after quenching, and the hardening can be achieved by using a moderate quenching medium.
7, the tendency of quenching and dehiscence
The volume change of conventional quenching is small, the shape warpage and distortion are slight, and the tendency of abnormal deformation is low. Conventional quenching has low cracking sensitivity and is insensitive to quenching temperature and workpiece shape.
The relative loss of grinding wheel is small, the limit grinding amount without burn is large, and it is insensitive to the quality of grinding wheel and cooling condition, and is not easy to occur grinding damage and grinding cracks.
(3) Meets the economic requirement
